The 2024-25 edition of La Liga resumed this weekend with an important matchup as Sevilla faced Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday.
At the time, Sevilla occupied 11th place in the La Liga standings and had struggled to find their best form this season. In contrast, Real Madrid held the third spot in the league table and had been quite impressive over the past year.
Real Madrid had emerged as a formidable force since the beginning of the season, drawing immense confidence from their victory in the Intercontinental Cup earlier this month. With Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior in excellent form, they looked determined to take all three points. Sevilla, on the other hand, have struggled consistently this year and are eager to prove themselves in this crucial match.

Real Madrid took control of the match right from the beginning. They maintained a higher possession rate and consistently posed a threat to Sevilla with their attacking opportunities. During a swift counterattack, Rodrygo and Diaz combined effectively on the left flank and sent a pass to Mbappe, who was positioned just outside the box. He unleashed a powerful shot into the top corner, leaving Fernandez with no chance of making a save.
