Erik ten Hag expressed that missed opportunities and some questionable officiating contributed to Manchester United's challenging match against West Ham. Despite creating several promising chances in the first half at the London Stadium, the team only managed to score through Casemiro, as the Hammers gained momentum and took the lead with a goal from substitute Crysencio Summerville. There are valuable lessons to be learned from this match as they look to improve moving forward.

The Red Devils faced a blow when Jarrod Bowen scored a penalty in injury time. Erik Ten Hag expressed his belief that the decision was questionable, arguing that Matthijs de Ligt’s challenge on Danny Ings did not constitute a clear and obvious foul. In his post-match interviews with broadcasters, Erik took the opportunity to discuss the incident and reflect on the team's performance throughout the game.

Gaffer's Take on Team's performance

Erik Ten Hag believes that United showcased excellent football, especially during the first hour, which was a pleasure to watch due to its dynamism, creativity, and variety. The only aspect they need to improve is their finishing ability in front of goal. At times, the team seems to fall into predictable patterns, and breaking that mould will be crucial. However, he is optimistic that this improvement will come, as the players have the potential to be clinical and relentless in front of the goal. With time, he is confident they will find their rhythm and start converting more chances.

“I think we played very good football, the first hour it was really enjoyable to watch our team – so dynamic, so much variation, so creative, so many chances. That is the only thing we miss – killing in front of the goal. Sometimes you are in this pattern and you have to break the pattern but it will come because our players are clinical and they can be relentless in front of the goal, so it will come.” he said in Interview.
