Hansi Flick’s Barcelona is in Serbia, preparing to face Crvena Zvezda at the Rajko Mitic Stadium on November 7th.
Given the impressive form they have shown in recent weeks, Barcelona is considered the favourite to secure three points. While the Rajko Mitic Stadium poses its own set of challenges, the team's current momentum gives them a strong chance for success in this match.
Following their impressive dismantling of Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in back-to-back fixtures, the team carried on their strong momentum with a solid 3-1 victory over Espanyol over the weekend. Their focus is now on the upcoming clash with Crvena Zvezda.
Savo Milosevic's take on the new Barcelona
In a recent interview (h/t SPORT) ahead of Barcelona’s visit to Belgrade, Serbian football legend Savo Milosevic shared his insights on Hansi Flick’s squad, commending their outstanding performance thus far.
Savo Milosevic believes that Barça stands out as the favourite not only in their matchup against Red Star Belgrade but also against nearly any team globally. The outcome largely hinges on Barça’s performance.
“Barça is the favourite not only against Red Star Belgrade, but against almost any team in the world. It all depends on Barça. If they are at their level, there won’t be any problems.” he said.
“What I saw against Bayern and Real Madrid is a completely new football. Most people say modern, but I don’t like it, this is new worldwide. I have not yet seen such a perfect team technically and tactically that runs so much and with such intensity,” he added.
He pointed out that what he observed in the matches against Bayern and Real Madrid showcased a new style of football. While many refer to it as modern, he sees it as something entirely new on a global scale. He was particularly impressed by the team's exceptional technical and tactical skills, along with their remarkable intensity and work rate on the field.
“This Barça can end up being better than Pep Guardiola’s, I really believe it because this team has one more thing, it runs a lot. This Barça doesn’t want to have the ball for having it, if you leave a gap they will massacre you.” Savo stated.
The Serbian legend, also praised Barcelona's academy, La Masia.
“It is very good for all world football. It’s not just money, but they are an example for the world of football because it’s not about buying, which anyone who has money can do, but it’s about creating, that’s the beauty.”
