French football President Philippe Diallo backed Kylian Mbappe and revealed that he was ready to be part of the French squad. He also provided insight into the decision-making process moving forward.
Although the World Cup-winning forward was not called up in October due to fitness concerns, he has been actively participating at the club level with Real Madrid, despite managing an injury. Didier Deschamps opted to leave Mbappe out once again for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against Israel and Italy.
FFF President updates about Mbappe
There have been suggestions that Mbappe may have opted not to be selected for the national team, allegedly due to concerns about his working relationship with coach Deschamps. However, Diallo has expressed a different perspective. In an interview with L’Equipe, he conveyed his belief that the Madrid star is indeed eager to join the national squad.
"I especially hope that he returns as soon as possible to bring what he has already brought to the French team. He is an immense player who is currently in a more delicate period, as can happen. I hope that he can return to his best level as soon as possible." President said.
"It is simply a choice by the coach who calls up the best possible squad at that time. He considered that the best possible squad, the best possible balance, is the selection he made. Then, that leaves us until March for Kylian to find his place in the group. I have no doubt about Mbappé's involvement with the national team. The only wish I have is for him to return as soon as possible." he added.
As the latest international break concludes, France's next match is not scheduled until the spring of 2025. Diallo is optimistic about Mbappe's return next year, emphasizing the valuable contributions he brings to Les Bleus. He acknowledges that everyone goes through challenging periods and remains hopeful that Mbappe will soon regain his top form.
Mbappe has had some impact on the French national team, earning 86 senior caps and scoring 48 goals—just nine shy of Olivier Giroud’s record. Currently, as the newest 'Galactico' at Santiago Bernabeu, he is determined to focus on club matters and ignite his performance with Real Madrid.
