‘I finish my contract here or…” Alisson Becker clear air on Saudi deal

Football: Alisson Becker has disclosed that he turned down a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League this summer, stating that he is still "really happy" with the Premier League team.

Alisson Becker, the goalkeeper for Liverpool, has disclosed that he turned down a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League this summer, stating that he is still "really happy" with the Premier League team and that the timing was not right for a transfer. 

While Alisson Becker former teammates like, Fabinho, Roberto Firmino, and Jordan Henderson left Anfield last summer to accept large offers from Saudi Arabia. The Brazil international joined Liverpool in 2018. Despite acknowledging that the money that might have been offered was huge, the 31-year-old emphasized that he is not prepared to quit a team that has won both the Premier League and the Champions League.

Alisson Becker current contract with Liverpool keeps him with the club till 2026. Despite the rumours surrounding his transfer to Saudi Pro League Alisson Becker said, "I want to honour my contract and finish my contract here or make a new one. They are doing the right thing but, on my side, as long as I have my contract here and as long as I am happy here, the club is happy with me, my family is happy here, [so] I will stay," according to ESPN.

It was Jurgen Klopp who bought Alisson Becker to Liverpool from AS Roma making him the costliest goalkeeper in football until three days later Chelsea signing Kepa Arrizabalaga. As the new season started for Liverpool with new manager Arne Slot Alisson Becker has kept clean sheet against their opening game of Premier League. The first game of new Premier League 2024/25 saw Liverpool taking on Ipswich Town as they defeated the newly promoted side by score of 2-0.

Liverpool to sign Giorgi Mamardashvili 

Meanwhile the summer transfer window is nearing its end Liverpool who haven’t made any new signing this season were linked to sign new goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili for 40 million euros and making him the first signing under Arna Slot era. This transfer is seen as a backup plan in case either Alisson or Caoimhin Kelleher decide to leave the club. Alisson also claimed to have been told in advance of the possible transfer and to fully understands the move. While Liverpool next match is against Brentford on 25th August they played in Anfield.
