Ange Postecoglou is determined to secure a trophy for Tottenham this season following the team's defeat to Arsenal in the derby match.

The Gunners clinched a 1-0 victory on Sunday, with Gabriel scoring the winning goal from a corner, solidifying their claim to north London supremacy.

Despite the loss, Postecoglou remained resolute in his post-match interview. However, there was a noticeable edge to his comments as he spoke with Sky Sports' Emma Saunders.

Postecoglou takes a stand for his team and his previous statements

Tottenham's gaffer was enquired about one of his previous statements in which he proclaimed he won trophies with his side in the second year of his tenure with the side. He was asked whether the current lot of Tottenham is capable of winning any silverware.

The Gaffer responded with a smile and corrected his previous statement, mentioning that he doesn't often win trophies, but whenever he does, it comes in his second year with the club. He believed in the truth regarding his claim of winning a silverware with the club.

"Am I going to answer the question, or are you going to keep asking? No absolutely and I think I'll correct myself and say that I don't usually win things, I always win things in my second year. I don't say things unless I believe them," Postecoglou said in the interview with Sky Sports.

Set pieces have been a cause of concern for the Spurs this season. Postecoglou addressed the issue stating that he hadn't planned to add a specialised set-piece coach yet and he believed the team performed well in defending the set-pieces against Arsenal.

“I haven't brought in a set-piece coach but people can run any kind of fairytale they want about me , everything I say has kind of turned into something else. Whether it's a set piece or in general play, if you switch off you're going to pay a price against good teams and that happened today," Postecoglou added.

Postecoglou a second season wonder

The former Celtic manager assumed the role of Tottenham's permanent replacement for Antonio Conte last summer, securing a four-year contract. Under his leadership, the 59-year-old guided Spurs to a fifth place finish last season and achieved multiple triumphs with Celtic, including securing the Scottish Premiership title and the Scottish League Cup in 2022 and 2023, as well as the Scottish Cup in 2023 during his second and third years in charge.
