As the most expensive player in Premier League history, following his transfer from Benfica in a €121m deal on deadline day in January 2023, he is eager to build on his initial performances.

After a stellar initial six months at Stamford Bridge, Fernández faced challenges during his first full season, largely due to playing through a hernia for most of the campaign.

Enzo embraces his time at Chelsea

He mentioned that he never felt burdened by the price tag that brought him to Chelsea. Maresca took over as head coach in the summer, replacing Mauricio Pochettino, after successfully leading Leicester to promotion by winning the Championship last season.

After Argentina triumphed in the Copa América this summer, Fernández walent through a period of struggle due to an off-field incident. He briefly lost his starting position for four matches but made a strong comeback following the November international break. In his last five league games, Fernández has impressively scored three goals and assisted on three more.

"When I arrived it was very difficult, the first year and a half here: change of coaches, the club wasn't doing well, personal injuries." Enzo said.

"It didn't affect me," he said. "I tried to take it responsibly, with enjoyment, without pressure. I was not satisfied with what I had been showing, then I got injured, many adverse things happened, I tried to move forward but today I feel very good, as does the team and we hope to continue on this path." he said.

"On a personal level I have been feeling very good. The team has shown a very strong character, always working and with humility and showing that great things can be achieved." He added.
