'I can't tell you why..' - Kylian Mbappe reveals reason behind missing out on national duty

Although Kylian Mbappe was left out of France's last two squads, he stated that he is still committed to playing for the country. After helping France win the World Cup in 2018, the 25-year-old forward for Real Madrid scored a hat-trick in the 2022 final loss to Argentina. He has 86 caps for France. In addition to being their captain, Mbappe was left out of the France squad in October as a precaution after recovering from an injury, again in the following month for questionable reasons.

Even though Kylian Mbappe hasn't been called up for any recent games, he said he still believes in the French national team and respects coach Didier Deschamps decisions. Mbappe only achieved one competitive goal in 2024, despite having 48 goals for his nation. He played a large portion of Euro 2024 with a broken nose, which made it difficult for him. It was a "one-off" decision, according to France's head coach Didier Deschamps, to leave Mbappe out of the Nations League games in November.

Kylian Mbappe has obviously felt the effects of such a hard schedule, particularly after Euro 2024, where he sought to leave during extra time in France's quarterfinal due to exhaustion and played a large portion of the match wearing a face mask after fracturing his nose. In the last four, France was eliminated. 

After joining Real Madrid on a free transfer from Paris St-Germain in the summer, Mbappe hasn't yet found his best form. Meanwhile Real Madrid seems in struggle to get in form as they are on brink of getting eliminated as they stands on 24^th place in UEFA Champions League group stage.
