After Argentina won another Copa America, Argentine football player Angel Di Maria recently announced his retirement from international competition. He also made a shocking disclosure on his playing career. Di Maria did not think twice to call Louis van Gaal the worst manager he had ever worked with, even though he had worked with several excellent ones.

Angel Di Maria, who is currently a player for Benfica, disclosed this information when asked to identify the top coaches he has worked under in an interview with ESPN Argentina. Di Maria seized the chance to voice his unhappiness with Van Gaal, the man who had coached him during his short but difficult time at Manchester United, without being asked.

"The worst is Van Gaal, of that I can assure you without a douby." "Just to let you know before you ask. In case you had any doubt, I'll clear that up for you right now." Angel Di Maria said as per Sports Ration.

At a British transfer record of £59.7 million in 2014, Van Gaal acquired Di Maria from Real Madrid to join Manchester United. Di Maria, however, found it difficult to establish himself under Van Gaal's coaching and was ultimately sent to Paris Saint-Germain for £44 million the following season. One of his rare bad periods in an otherwise outstanding career was his tenure at Manchester United.

Angel Di Maria had greatest moments under Carlo Ancelotti

Angel Di Maria chose to work with some of the finest coaches he had ever worked with, yet he was ready to criticize Van Gaal. Di Maria found it difficult to choose between Carlo Ancelotti and Jose Mourinho when asked to name his best three coaches.

It gets difficult after that. I had several coaches. Ancelotti, Mourinho. Angel Di Maria acknowledged, "It's difficult to choose because I played for so many excellent managers." Di Maria saw some of the greatest moments of his career while working under Ancelotti. These included winning the 2011 Copa del Rey, the 2012 La Liga championship, and his first and only UEFA Champions League victory with Real Madrid in 2014.
