Last month, footballing icon Ronaldo boldly declared at the Globe Soccer Awards that the Saudi Pro League boasts a higher level of competition than the French league. His comments sparked a significant backlash from critics.

However, Neymar stood in agreement with this viewpoint. In a recent interview with CNN Sport, the Brazilian supported the assertion. "Today, I think it is [stronger]. The level of the Saudi Pro League is increasing and, from what I see, it’s better than Ligue 1. Ligue 1 has its positives. The league is very strong. I played in it, so I know this well," Neymar said.

"Today (though), the players in the Saudi Pro League are better. Saudi Arabia has surprised me in a positive way. The people, the country, the cities, the culture. I think it’s a country that’s continually growing. It will also host the World Cup in 2034, which I think will be incredible," Neymar added.

Neymar enjoyed a notable tenure in Ligue 1 with PSG before moving to the Saudi Pro League in 2023, joining the influx of stars attracted by Cristiano Ronaldo's transfer to Al-Nassr.

Neymar enjoyed an impressive six-season tenure at PSG, where he netted 118 goals. While he achieved some success in domestic competitions, he ultimately sought new challenges in his career, leading him to join the Saudi Pro League after not securing a Champions League title with PSG.

Since his transfer to Al-Hilal, however, Neymar has participated in only seven matches, during which he has scored one goal and provided three assists. In contrast, Cristiano Ronaldo is approaching the final months of his contract with Al-Nassr and has yet to announce his plans for the future.
