The miserable run continued for Manchester City as they lost by 0-2 to Juventus in the Champions League fixture on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola’s men are struggling with a horrific run of form in the tournament, being placed in the 22nd spot, just three spots away from getting automatically eliminated from the contest.
The Premier League holders have won only one game in their last 10 fixtures across all tournaments or competitions.
I'm so proud of these players – Pep Guardiola
Meanwhile, City manager Pep Guardiola spoke up briefly after City’s defeat against Juventus. He also seemed to have a positive stance and backed his boys despite enduring a poor run in the competition. He also appreciated the intent of his players on the field.
“We played good, really good. So, we missed the last pass, the last action, of course, some transitions happen, but I'm so proud of these players, they gave everything and they tried, and now we live in this period, and hopefully we can change and get results,” said Guardiola to the press after City’s defeat against Juventus.
“I know it's difficult, it's difficult in the Champions League in Europe, but we play well. We have two games. We need one point maybe, one victory, the last one is at home, and the situation is because of the game against Feyenoord when City gave up a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 and especially Inter Milan, a 0-0 draw,” he added later while recalling two crucial games in City’s ‘Champions League' campaign.
Furthermore, the 53-year-old also spoke about City’s three away games in which the team didn’t enjoy a good time and ended up being a side ‘struggling throughout the game.’
“But our three games away were, really, really tough and you have to accept it. And when we turn around, we don't forget that period, we appreciate more what we have done in the past, what they are going to in the future,” he concluded.
