'He is key..' - Paris Saint Germain's president clears rumours surrounding manager Luis Enquire

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has addressed the topic of manager Luis Enrique's future with clarity and optimism. 

The former Barcelona coach, who enjoyed a successful first season in France by securing three trophies, including the Ligue 1 title, is currently navigating some roadblocks. As the team continues to perform consistently in the league during the 2024-25 season, maintaining a solid seven-point lead at the top, however, their performance at the UEFA Champions League has raised eyebrows on the gaffer.

PSG have secured only one victory in their first five matches of the Champions League this season, placing them 25th with just three games remaining in the league stage. Amid ongoing speculation concerning Luis Enrique's future in the French capital, club president Al-Khelaifi firmly addressed the situation regarding Enrique's role at the club.

He expressed disbelief at the narratives circulating about Luis Enrique, labelling them as absurd. Al-Khelaifi emphasized that he has a clear strategy in place—spanning short, medium, and long-term—and he stands unwavering in his confidence in the manager, the players, and the overall team.

"I can’t believe what is being written [about Luis Enrique] and I even find it ridiculous, but we won’t let it affect our football at all […] we have a short, medium, and long-term strategy and I have full faith in the manager, in the players, and all of our team," President said.

The Ligue 1 champions are set to return to the field on Friday night, ready to face Auxerre in a crucial Ligue 1 matchup before they take on RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
