Fabrizio Romano reports that winger Antony of Manchester United will not be heading on a loan to Real Betis. The Brazilian attacker would prefer to remain at Old Trafford past the end of the current transfer period, despite reports claiming otherwise.

The Daily Mail said on Friday afternoon that Christian Eriksen, Antony's teammate at United, and Real Betis, a Spanish team, had expressed interest in signing him on a late loan. Fabrizio Romano, though, moved swiftly to deny any suggestions that Antony was abruptly quitting United. The journalist said to his viewers on X the fact that the Brazilian wishes to continue his career at United and that the Betis deal isn't happening.

After having a breakout season with Ajax, Antony was one of Europe's most exciting prospects when he was originally recruited by Manchester United. The 16-cap Brazil player has, however, found it difficult to improve his performance in the English Premier League and has frequently been charged with prioritising style over substance and his notorious love of pirouettes serves as an excellent example of this.

Even though it appears Antony won't be departing before Friday's 11 p.m. deadline, it's unclear how long he can stay at Old Trafford. This is going to be his third full campaign with the Red Devils, and he hasn't made much of an effect for Manchester United despite costing the club Β£82 million.

Manchester United players who might leave this summer

In the season's first few games, Christian Eriksen hasn't played even one minute for Manchester United. His international supervisor has informed the Dane that his current circumstances are untenable. Although Eriksen's transfer to his old team Ajax has been mentioned, United seems unwilling to let him go.

Currently, Manchester United's sixth-choice centre back is Victor Lindelof. With just a year remaining on his contract, he could decide to extend it. A toe injury has caused Lindelof to miss out on the Sweden international team, which complicates the position.
