Gareth Southgate picked a large squad for UEFA Euro 2024 today as England prepares for two final warm-up matches before the competition begins in Germany.

Gareth Southgate has released a "training squad" that includes several more than the authorised 26 players, ahead of friendly matches against Bosnia and Herzegovina at St James' Park on June 3 and Iceland at Wembley Stadium on June 7. The England boss will then make a statement about his Euros team on Saturday, June 8, six days prior to the competition begins.

Southgate's side won their qualifying group without losing a game and are one of the favourites to lift the trophy on July 14, given their recent record in key competitions and the exceptional form of their attacking players lately, such as Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, Cole Palmer, and Phil Foden.

England has been placed in Group C against Slovenia, Denmark, and Serbia, but Southgate must first select on his final team, and there is still tough competition for the team’s 26 spots. The head coach wishes to see the team play during the warm-up matches starting next month and then take a call on the final squad.
