Pakistan Cricket are set to play England in a four-game T20I series which starts on the 22nd of May. The first match of the series will be played in Leeds as the two teams look to get ready for the T20 World Cup in a few weeks. Interestingly, these two sides had played each other in the finals of the T20I World Cup in 2022 with England coming out on top.
According to reports, Haris Rauf is closer to a return to action and could play the first game of the series in Leeds. The right-arm pacer had last played during the Pakistan Super League in 2024 where he suffered an injury.
Haris Rauf as per reports has started to bowl and has been looking good so far. Babar Azam the Pakistani skipper wants to include Haris Rauf in the team for the World Cup. The 30-year-old’s fitness will be gauged during the upcoming series against England.
Pakistan Cricket Official makes massive statement on Haris Rauf
With just a few weeks left for the T20I World Cup, the Pakistan Cricket Team is yet to announce its squad for the tournament. According to a Pakistani Cricket official, fast bowler Haris Rauf is set to be cleared and play in the 4-match T20I series against England.
“He is looking sharp and bowling with rhythm in the nets. Now the medical panel of the Pakistan team, including the team doctor, physiotherapist, trainer, and head coach will take a call on whether to pitch Haris back into international cricket against England or give him some more time to recover for the World Cup” said the Official in the know of the matter.
According to the official, it is Babar Azam who is insistent on having Haris Rauf in the team. “The skipper wants to see Haris Back in action so that a proper assessment can be made about his workload as well. That is unless the selectors decide to include someone from outside the 18 in England”
The Pakistani side has just finished a series in Ireland where they lost the first game before winning the next two matches. The men in green have just won the World Cup once in 2009 and have finished runners-up twice. The biggest game of the T20 World Cup will witness India and Pakistan face each other in New York on 9 June.
