Gareth Bale made a massive claim that he would have been in the same league as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo if not for injuries. He claimed to be a better free-kick taker and finisher than Ronaldo in Real Madrid. Bale said that some of his iconic moments are not etched in the memories of the fans like that of Messi and Ronaldo.
"If it wasn't for injuries, my name would be in the same debate with Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's name," said Bale in an interview. He regarded himself to be better at taking free kicks and finishing the ball during the Real Madrid stint than Ronaldo. Gareth was upset that Ronaldo was preferred over him.
"At Real Madrid training sessions I was the best free-kick taker, the best finisher, but Cristiano was preferred to take them freekicks and all dead balls except for corner kicks, but at training, I was always above him in the free-kick scoring rate," added Gareth Bale in his interview.
'No one wants to admit that it was the best goal in the Champions League just because my name is Gareth Bale' - Gareth Bale
He was further upset that the fans did not praise some of his iconic moments as well as they did with Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. Bale remembered his goal against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final just about two minutes before the match and felt it had almost forgotten.
"In the Champions League finals, I did great, particularly against Atletico Madrid we were two minutes away from defeat, but guess what I saved them, we went on to win 4-1, but my name is forgotten," added Bale in the interview. He also remembered his contribution in the final against Liverpool.
Bale claimed that he scored a sensational goal against Liverpool and added that none admit it to be the best goal in the Champions League. "Against Liverpool in the final, I scored a sensational goal but no one wants to admit that it was the best goal in the Champions League just because my name is Gareth Bale," added Bale.
