FC Barcelona player Frenkie de Jong will be left out of the Netherlands' Euro 2024 squad due to injury. De Jong has not played after being stretchered off against Real Madrid in April, but he has joined up with the national team before the UEFA Euro 2024.

However, it has now been announced that De Jong will not go to Germany as part of the team for the competition, but will instead come back to Barcelona for additional medical care.De Jong's unavailability will be a major setback for the Dutch team. Ronald Koeman had thought the midfielder was going to be fit, however he now has to deal without the Barcelona star.

The Barcelona superstar had previously stated that he was ready to face "certain risks" to play in Euro 2024, but it is evident that he is just not ready. Meanwhile, FC Barcelona will be hoping that De Jong will benefit from the summer break and be fully fit and ready to go for the new season.

The Netherlands have another midfielder in PSV's superb playmaker Joey Veerman, who is anticipated to move to the English Premier League or Serie A, thus De Jong's backup is already on the roster. Ronald Koeman has not yet announced a replacement for FC Barcelona's playmaker.

How can the Netherlands line-up during the UEFA Euros 2024 in Germany?
