Following yet another trophy-less campaign for Harry Kane, Michael Owen claimed the England captain should never have departed Tottenham Hotspur to sign for Bayern Munich. Michael Owen believes Harry Kane should have stayed at Tottenham Hotspur rather than leaving for Bayern Munich.

The England skipper has been in blistering form while playing for the Bundesliga powerhouse netting 44 goals in 45 appearances in his debut campaign in Germany. However, his trophy drought has persisted, with Bayern missing out on silverware for the very first time in 12 years after being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League semi-finals against Real Madrid earlier this week. Even in the league, they were outcasted by Bayer Leverkusen who are having an impressive season.

Kane, who is currently 30 years old has yet to win a team accolade in his entire professional life and would have expected to break that streak when he joined the German powerhouse. However, a lack of regularity, combined with Bayer Leverkusen's domination, has resulted in another miserable season for the striker in terms of title contention.

“Look how far they are behind” : Michael Owen on Harry Kane

As stated by Michael Owen, who left Liverpool for Real Madrid during his career, Kane was incorrect to leave his hometown club for pastures new. Speaking with Gambling Zone, the pundit stated that, "Hindsight will always win in that case. When he first moved to Bayern, I believed it was a really bad thing to do. You could have interviewed me three or four months ago and I'd have said wow, that was a great prediction, look how far they are behind in the Bundesliga.”

The former Manchester United striker said, "But that would only have been hindsight too. I believe and still do believe it was wrong. I left Liverpool to go to Real Madrid and that team was as average a team as there has been in the last 25 years. Then they went and won the Champions League."
