Radja Nainggolan, a former Belgium international footballer, has been taken into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into cocaine trafficking from South America into Europe, according to the Brussels Public Prosecutor's Office.
As part of this investigation, the Brussels Federal Police conducted approximately thirty searches on Monday morning, primarily targeting locations in the province of Antwerp and areas surrounding Brussels.

Former Belgian star allegedly involved in Cocaine trafficking
The Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed that the footballer has been detained in connection with this case. The investigation centers on the alleged importation of cocaine from South America through the port of Antwerp, and its subsequent distribution within Belgium, according to the office.
After several months without a club, Nainggolan has made a comeback from retirement to join the second-tier Belgian side Lokeren-Temse. He marked his debut with an impressive goal directly from a corner kick last weekend.
His new team announced that they learned of his arrest through media reports. The 36-year-old Nainggolan, who has made 30 appearances for Belgium, has not represented the national team since March 2018.
Nainggolan's constant disciplinary issues
Throughout his career, Nainggolan has had numerous disciplinary issues. In 2018, while playing for Roma, he faced a fine and was excluded from the squad for a match due to a series of recklessness, drunken live postings on Instagram on New Year’s Eve.
In 2022, while playing for Royal Antwerp, he was suspended after being caught smoking an electronic cigarette on the bench following which the Belgian club indicated that his behaviour could had a negative impact on the squad
