Martin Braithwaite intends to acquire La Liga club Espanyol after his relationship with management deteriorated. It also led to his departure from the team this summer. The striker has recently joined the Brazilian club Gremio.

When they were relegated to Spain's second level in 2023, the attacker lobbied for a transfer. After that thing failed, he helped them get back to La Liga. However, when relations between the player and management deteriorated, his contract's departure provision was activated, allowing him to leave the team for free. After leaving the club, he became a free agent and signed with Gremio in Brazil. He now intends to buy the Spanish squad to exact revenge on the club's management.

Braithwaite scored 22 goals and three assists in 43 Segunda Division games last season. He formerly played for Barcelona. Despite his time there, Barcelona made a surprise move for him as a reserve player, making him one of their most costly signings during the transfer window. However, he did not have a fulfilling experience with the club and departed after two years.

His time with Espanyol was a rollercoaster ride

However, the 33-year-old's decision never truly paid off. He hardly scored any goals. When the club sought to sell him, he refused, prompting boos from the crowd. Martin Braithwaite eventually departed the club for local rivals Espanyol.

Braithwaite's brief spell at Espanyol has been a rollercoaster ride. He intended to push his way out of the club when it was demoted to the second level. Later on, they were promoted to La Liga. Has now had a falling out with management. It is also unclear whether the club's owners are interested in selling the club. If this happens, it will undoubtedly be one of the oddest events in sport. Meanwhile, Martin Braithwaite will remain at Brazilian club Gremio after no European clubs expressed interest in signing him this summer.
