Football in Paris Olympics: Schedule, teams, and everything else you need to know

The Paris Olympics 2024 is set to start from the 26th of July 2024. Football will be one of the most popular Sports to feature in the event. A total of 16 men's and 12 women's teams from six confederations will be taking part in the tournament. Hosts France will be one of the teams to watch out for, given their success in the sport in the recent past.

Thierry Henry will be leading France as the most experienced player. Spain and Argentina will be the teams to watch out for as well, given their success in the Euros and Copa America 2024 respectively. In the women's division, Canada and Spain will be the teams to watch out for. While Canada is the defending champion, Spain is the World Cup winner. 

The United States would be hoping to make a comeback following an upset in the World Cup last year. The men's tournament will feature four groups. The top two teams from each group will progress to the quarterfinal. The women's tournament will feature three groups. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinal. Likewise, the two best third-placed teams will progress to the knockouts.

Football's schedule for Paris Olympics

The schedule for the tournament is out. In the men's games, Argentina will be taking on Morocco in the first match on the 24th of July. Spain and Japan in the women's division will be taking part in the inaugural match on the 25th of July. On the 5th of August, the semifinal of the men's division is set to take place. The semifinal of the women's division will take place on the 6th of August.

The Bronze medal match of the men's and women's tournaments is set to take place on the 8th and 9th of August respectively. The final of the match of the men's and women's tournaments is set to take place on the 9th and 10th of August respectively. Parc des Princes stadium in Paris will host the final of both men's and women's tournaments.
