Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that Paris Saint-Germain previously entertained the idea of making a huge bid of more than €200 million for Lamine Yamal, a budding superstar at FC Barcelona. This happened in 2024, when PSG became aware that Kylian Mbappe was going to go with Real Madrid

PSG knew exactly what they wanted to do when they made their record-breaking offer for one of the best young players in European football, Lamine Yamal. Nevertheless, no official offer ever went out in spite of these internal conversations. This is due to FC Barcelona's explicit declaration that they were not interested in holding talks for Yamal, who had never been open to transfers.

The club refused to even consider the possibility of accepting such an attempt from PSG, demonstrating their hard position. It was about more than simply money, it was about how important Yamal is to them going forward. According to reports, Yamal is really happy at Barcelona, that the team is giving high priority to his contract extension.

Despite the fact that he inked a contract that extends until 2026, Barcelona has realized that they must quickly ensure his long-term future in light of his outstanding on-field performances. They understand how important it is to reevaluate his contract given his rising market worth and the increased interest from elite European teams.

FC Barcelona look to tie down Lamine Yamal on a new contract

Before the conclusion of 2024, negotiations are anticipated to take place on a new agreement for Yamal. But given his swift ascent in the football world, these discussions might not be simple.

If FC Barcelona hopes to guarantee that Yamal will be an important member of their team for many years to come, they will have to provide a wage that is much higher. The club is keen to hold onto him, but they also know it will require a significant amount of work to protect his future and stave off demand from other teams.
