Erik Ten Hag may make his way to manage RB Leipzig
Just weeks after parting ways with Manchester United, Erik Ten Hag may have the opportunity to step back into management, with reports suggesting he could be a candidate for the head coach position at RB Leipzig. The Dutch manager, who went through a rough time at United, is being considered to succeed Marco Rose, whose role at the Bundesliga club is currently under review.
Leipzig wants to sign Erik Ten Hag
Sky Germany reports that Ten Hag has emerged as a potential candidate for Leipzig as the club assesses its options during a period of concerns under Rose. Having not secured a win in their last six matches across all competitions, Leipzig's recent performances have prompted this evaluation.
Their last victory dates back to October, and the team now finds itself nine points behind league leaders Bayern Munich. The DFB Pokal Cup is undeniably Leipzig’s last opportunity to secure silverware this season, especially given the struggles they’ve faced in the Bundesliga and the waning prospects for the Champions League.
On the other hand, Ten Hag has been without a job since being replaced by Ruben Amorim at Manchester United in late October. Despite facing challenges during his time at Manchester United, the former Ajax manager is still recognized for his tactical expertise and talent for revitalizing teams—attributes that might attract the interest of Leipzig’s management.
Erik ten Hag isn't the only candidate under consideration; Roger Schmidt, the current manager of Benfica, is also on the list. With his established relationship with the Red Bull football group from his tenure at Red Bull Salzburg in early 2010.
"Dear fans, let me start by thanking you. Thank you for always being there for the club. Whether it was at a game far away or a tough match at Old Trafford, your support has been unshakeable." Ten Hag said.
"The atmosphere at Old Trafford has always been electrifying, thanks to you. I felt it many times. Also in away games, it gave the team and me an incredible feeling to hear the United chants taking over the opponents’ stadiums, whether the game was in England, Europe, or during the summer tours." He added.
