Ruben Amorim's Manchester United team comfortably defeated Everton at Old Trafford, earning him his first Premier League victory in a decisive manner. In Amorim's first game as interim manager after taking over from Ruud van Nistelrooy, United drew at Ipswich last Saturday. On Thursday, they defeated Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.

They had little control of the game and were wasteful in the last third of Sunday's match, but once they managed to score twice through goals from Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee, they were clinical. It was a memorable match for the Everton defender, who unintentionally helped United score their first two goals. The hosts had tried to capture visiting defender Jarrad Branthwaite in the offseason.

After the first goal was created by Marcus Rashford's low shot deflecting in off the center-back's outstretched boot, Branthwaite slackened, allowing Amad Diallo to steal in and feed Bruno Fernandes, who then lay it off for Zirkzee to finish. After Dutchman Zirkzee coolly scored United's fourth goal in minute 64 to complete a comfortable victory, the Red Devils essentially ended the match as a contest just 29 seconds into the second half when the outstanding Diallo slipped a pass through to Rashford to convert.

Cole Palmer was outstanding in Chelsea's resounding victory over Aston Villa, whose losing streak is now eight games. In the seventh minute, Marc Cucurella forced Jadon Philogene into a mistake on the edge of his box before crossing, and Nicolas Jackson gave Chelsea the lead by squeezing a first-time finish past Emi Martinez.

Enzo Fernandez subsequently volleyed in the second goal in the 36th minute. After Palmer's fantastic play, Moises Caicedo regained the ball in midfield, and the Argentina midfielder finished with his right foot after a superb left-footed touch.

Then, in the 83rd minute, Palmer curled in a spectacular left-foot finish from the box's edge to complete the win. With 25 points, Chelsea has moved up to joint-second place in the Premier League standings, while Villa has dropped to 12th place with 19 points.

Tottenham Hotspur hold Fulham for a draw

Tottenham Hotspur was held at home by Fulham in the Premier League, demonstrating their inconsistency once more. Spurs had to endure a lot of pressure before Brennan Johnson gave them the lead in the 54th minute. Spurs were without several important players due to injuries and suspension. Timo Werner's cross set the Wales forward up for a close-range volley to score his sixth league goal of the season.

But 13 minutes later, captain Tom Cairney gave Fulham, who had the better opportunities in the match, a well-earned equalizer. However, with seven minutes remaining, Cairney was sent out for a late challenge because of Dejan Kulusevski's Achilles.

Alex Iwobi picked out Cairney, who had only entered as a substitute, and he scored his first left-footed goal from eighteen yards out. After defeating Manchester City 4-0 last week, Spurs, who lead the Premier League in scoring, have now lost their past eight games without a back-to-back victory.
