In Al-Nassr's 3-1 victory over Al-Akhdoud, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 917th goal of the year, kicking off the new year on a strong note. On Thursday he scored the first goal of 2025 in the Saudi Pro League for his club and his 24th consecutive season in football.
The Portuguese sensation helped his team overcome an early deficit by converting a penalty just forty-two minutes into the game. In addition to Sadio Mane's previous goal, the Portuguese player handed Al Nassr the advantage. Al Okhdood placed pressure on Stefano Pioli's team by opening the score just six minutes into the game.
Al Nassr playing at home, began to generate more opportunities, though, and even had a goal disallowed due to a foul. Mane scored in the 29th minute after several outstanding efforts. Ronaldo scored his 11th goal of the season in the Saudi Pro League with this goal. The Portuguese player made 39 appearances for Al Nassr in 2024, scoring 36 goals. In his professional career, he also surpasses his previous record of 917 goals.
After winning the match Cristiano Ronaldo took to social media to celebrate the win. “Best way to start the year .” he captioned the picture. In October 2002, he scored his first two goals for Sporting CP in a victory over Moreirense in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. His career goals for Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, Al Nassr, and the Portuguese national side total more than 900 since that time.
