Cristiano Ronaldo etches new unwanted record after Portugal's 2-0 loss against Gerogia

Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers of all time. The Portuguese captain is featuring in his sixth UEFA Euro tournament for the national side setting a new record on the world stage. He has been often breaking and creating records for years now and despite passing his prime his ability of scoring goals and dedication towards the game has kept him competing in the biggest stages.

Portugal lost their final group stage game in the Euro 2024 against Georgia, however, they qualified as the group leaders despite losing their final game. The 39-year-old striker started the game, but he was subbed off in the game and was left furious. The striker has not been able to find the net in the tournament so far. This is an unwanted record that he has etched beside his name. He had just three shots, with only one of those on target in the match. 

The best chance among the three games he got was against Turkey when he was 1v1 with the keeper but he passed the ball and let Bruno Fernandes score the goal who was in a better position and had an empty net ahead of him. This is the first time that the former Real Madrid striker has not scored a single goal in the group stage of any major tournament. 

Will Ronaldo find his goalscoring boot?

He entered Euro 2024 having scored at least once in each of the ten previous group stages he'd participated in, including both Euros and World Cups. But he has now no goals, the star footballer will be hoping to find his scoring boots back in the knockout game and score in the RO16 for the team. 

Portugal will face Slovenia in the upcoming days for the knockout match and they will like to win the game and qualify for the last 8 of the tournament where they will face the winner of the game between France and Belgium. The Al Nassr striker who is the all-time leading goal scorer of the tournament will look to add more e to his tally in the important fixtures ahead.
