Bruno Fernandes is pleased at Manchester United and plans to come back to the Premier League side next year, according to manager Erik ten Hag, amid speculation about the midfielder's future. Fernandes told DAZN last week that he will think about what lies ahead at United following this year's European Championship, and that he could only remain in Manchester if he and the club wanted him to.

When asked about Fernandes' remarks Ten Hag told the media that. "That was taken out of context. I know he is Manchester United and I think he is very happy to be here."

The Dutchman stated that he "definitely" expects Fernandes to complete his contract, which stretches until 2026, and emphasised the significance of the Portugal international as an inspiration for his teammates on the club.

The Manchester United manager said, "Taking responsibility is one of the biggest assets top footballers have nowadays to show and to deliver. Bruno is a very good example for many other players. He is a real fighter. Last year when we played Brighton in the (FA Cup) semi-final, he played with an ankle that was so thick. It was unbelievable. He couldn't run but he was still on the pitch. He is always available, always delivers and always gives energy to the team. Such assets are necessary to be successful."

“You need patience with the process.” - Erik Ten Hag

Ten Hag has faced a chronic injury crisis throughout his second year in charge. The 54-year-old has one more year left on his current deal, but INEOS has provided no official promises about his future. Nonetheless, he is optimistic about his prospects and is entirely devoted to the mission, despite pressure from Bundesliga heavyweights Bayern Munich, who have been searching for a replacement for Thomas Tuchel.

The Dutch head coach said, “You need outstanding players.Otherwise, you are in a process and you have to be patient. That is where we are now. We went for players who have high potentials, and we have to develop them, as individuals and as a team. But you need patience with the process.”
