As per the reports from Marca, discussions regarding a new contract have been suspended following Al-Nassr's 3-2 defeat to Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League, which occurred just days after their exit in the AFC Champions League semi-finals against Kawasaki Frontale. The report indicates that Ronaldo was anticipating a two-year extension, but the recent unfavourable results have prompted the 40-year-old to reconsider his options.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner was brought to the Saudi Pro League outfit from Premier League side Manchester United in early 2023. He was introduced as the face of the revamped Saudi Pro League. However, the team's inability to win any silverware in these two years has left the Portuguese frustrated and infuriated. The report states that the situation has left an air of uncertainty between both the club and the player, forcing both parties to reconsider their decision for a contract renewal. The report even states that Ronaldo may head to another Saudi club.
