Atletico Madrid's Samu Omorodion is a striker, and the Spanish team has rejected Chelsea's £42 million offer; they hold onto out for a minimum of £70 million. The Spain under-21 star has drawn comparisons to Diego Costa, a legendary player for Chelsea and Atletico Madrid.

And the Spanish club is in a good negotiation position with four years remaining on his deal. The owners of Chelsea, along with their recruitment team under the leadership of Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, have recognized Omorodion as a gifted young player with enormous potential.

However, the pursuit has also been welcomed by new manager Enzo Maresca. To put more pressure on Chelsea's existing front man Nicolas Jackson, the Spanish manager has made it obvious that he needs an additional striker.

This summer, Chelsea has already discussed Alexander Isak and Jhon Duran with Aston Villa and Newcastle, respectively. Dominic Solanke of Bournemouth and Benjamin Sesko of Red Bull Leipzig, however, have been judged to be too costly. Following their withdrawal from talks with Newcastle for Isak last week, as reported by SunSport, Chelsea has made a proposal for Omorodion.

What has Samu Omorodion achieved so far in his career?

After completing a £6 million transfer from Granada last summer, the 20-year-old was moved on loan to Alaves for the season and hasn't played for Atletico. He ended the season as the team's top scorer and was great in their prowess in the attack throughout the season.

Omoridion established himself as an effective goal scorer with the Granada B-team, although he made just one senior game for the Club. But in August of last year, he scored in a 3-1 loss against Atletico, whom he signed the following week, to mark his official debut. Due to his goals, Alaves was able to remain in La Liga, and Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, has identified him as a possible Memphis Depay successor. Depay is set to leave the team this summer.
