Barçelona's President Joan Laporta charged with alleged fraud: Reports

Barcelona president Joan Laporta and his former associate Joan Oliver are currently navigating a troubled situation. Recently, a Barcelona magistrate charged them with not returning an investment of €4.7 million to an investor.

Laporta Under Scrutiny for Alleged Fraud

According to a report by Relevo, the Court of Instruction, number 21 in Barcelona has accepted a new complaint against Laporta and Oliver, who are accused of not returning €50,000 to another investor. This development adds further complexity to their ongoing legal matters.

According to Laporta, he allocated a portion of the mentioned funds to CF Reus Deportiu, which was competing in the Segunda division until its liquidation in 2020. Additionally, the report states that some of the funds were directed towards establishing a La Masia-style academy in Asia.

Laporta has been quite busy recently, and this is yet another matter requiring his attention. The Barcelona president is scheduled to testify in this case, with the date set for January.

Laporta updated about Arajuo, De Jong, and Pedri's contract 

Barcelona president Joan Laporta announced that the club is engaged in discussions with Ronald Araujo, Pedri, and Frenkie de Jong regarding new contracts.

Araujo signed his current agreement in 2022, committing to a four-year deal as the club secured their talented centre-back. Recently, however, there have been rumours about Araujo's potential departure, with Premier League clubs, Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly showing interest. 

De Jong has recently been the subject of interest regarding a potential move to the Premier League. He currently holds a contract with FC Barcelona that extends until 2026.

Similarly, Pedri's contract also runs until 2026. After a period of injuries, he has been able to establish himself in the starting lineup, making nine appearances across all competitions this season.

During his opening speech at FC Barcelona's Ordinary General Assembly, club president Laporta shared that discussions are ongoing with the representatives of Araujo, De Jong, and Pedri. The club is actively working on new contracts for these key players.
