Barcelona pays tribute to their club doctor following his unfortunate demise

Spanish football club giants Barcelona postponed their Laliga fixture against Osasuna on Saturday due to the unfortunate demise of the club doctor.

FC Barcelona's La Liga match against CA Osasuna, planned to take place on Saturday night, was rescheduled following the unfortunate demise of the club's first-team doctor, Carles Minarro Garcia. The decision was communicated shortly before the match was set to take place at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, with fans already in attendance. The Catalan club honoured the contributions of Dr. Minarro and supported his family during this difficult time.

Barcelona postponed their fixture 

In an official statement, FC Barcelona conveyed their profound sorrow for the unfortunate demise on Saturday. "FC Barcelona is deeply saddened to announce the passing of first-team doctor Carles Miñarro Garcia this evening. For this reason, the match between FC Barcelona and CA Osasuna has been postponed to a later date," read the club statement.

Carles Minarro Garcia, 40, has been a vital part of FC Barcelona since 2017. Before his tenure with the club, he served as an assistant doctor at the Centre d'Alt Rendiment de Sant Cugat and led the medical services at Centre d'Esports Sabadell. This season, he was prominently promoted to the first team, working alongside Dr. Ricard Pruna.

The players received the sombre news in the locker room from club President Joan Laporta, prompting the decision to postpone the match. Both FC Barcelona and Osasuna have expressed their heartfelt condolences to Minarro's family and friends. The match will be rescheduled for a later date, with La Liga expected to announce the new date in the upcoming days.

Barcelona leads the race for the Laliga title. The Catalan club stands at the top of the Laliga standings with 57 points in 26 matches. The Catalan club has won 18 matches and boasts a massive goal difference of 40.
