Arsenal star to Real Madrid

Real Madrid player Antonio Rudiger has declared two Arsenal players to be the greatest footballers in the world at their position, ranking them above his fellow UEFA Champions League winning colleagues. When asked which centre backs he thought were the best in the game, Real Madrid centre-back Antonio Rudiger immediately named Arsenal's William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes during a recent interview with "The Inside Scoop" podcast.

Though the centre-back duo has already made a name for themselves as one of the best defensive duos in international football, it will still be encouraging for them to receive this kind of praise from one of the top defenders in the world, who plays for the 15-time European champion.

While speaking at the podcast, Antonio Rudiger claimed, “If you see Arsenal, the two centre-backs playing together, for two years now they’re doing an amazing job. The transformation from Arsenal that was a bit before to now – those two are the pillar of it. You have with Gabriel the aggressive leader and Saliba – this brother plays clean! You have to give it to him, he looks like a silent leader.”

Is William Saliba wanted by PSG and Real Madrid?

Although he acknowledged Liverpool's Virgil Van Dijk, who he claimed had to be in the discussion as well, Rudiger, a former Chelsea player, is also regarded as one of the finest defenders in the world, which lends credence to his admiration of the Arsenal duo. Over the past year, William Saliba has been more and more associated with a possible transfer to Real Madrid, where Antonio Rudiger currently plays, but a new rumour has surfaced recently.

Following fresh connections to Paris Saint-Germain, Fabrizio Romano declared on Thursday that, “Although William Saliba will always be appreciated because of his immense talent, there’s nothing in the rumour that Paris Saint-Germain could make a big offer for his services at this stage. There has been no approach from PSG, no proposal, no talks.”
