In a surprising turn of events, Leny Yoro has agreed to sign with Manchester United after he was booked on a flight to Manchester today. Manchester United is on the verge of acquiring Lille defender Leny Yoro, having resisted Real Madrid's pressure as well.

Yoro, 18, was the target of a £52 million bid from the Red Devils earlier this month, but the center back first desired a transfer to Real Madrid. But following fruitful negotiations, Yoro is currently traveling to the UK for a medical examination and to finalize his personal contract with United. The fact that Real were interested in waiting until the following summer to bring in Yoro gives Manchester United a huge advantage.

Real Madrid, the La Liga winners will need to strengthen their defense this summer as mainstay Nacho Fernandez is leaving the Spanish city. Although it appears doubtful that Yoro will be acquired, there are now many talented young center backs available. The club would now have to look at other alternatives which they can sign for a fair price during the summer.

Which players should Real Madrid sign after failing to purchase Leny Yoro?

Real Madrid are known to make big transfers happen and luring the best players possible to the Spanish capital. Few teams have the resources to bring William Saliba to their club, but he is the center back of the next generation. Madrid does have the funds, despite the fact that the 23-year-old would be more expensive than Yoro and the most expensive defender in the history of football.

Jarrad Branthwaite is one of the future generation of outstanding defenders, possessing an athletic build, excellent defensive reflexes, and a knack for choosing a pass. Madrid has the financial means required to make an agreement work and have good relations with the Everton management to surely strike a deal

With consistent play throughout the season, Goncalo Inacio was a vital component of Sporting's championship-winning team the previous year. The young player's impressive performances earned him a position with Portugal at UEFA Euro 2024, even if Pepe, 41, kept him off the starting lineup. The signing would virtually ensure quality, and negotiations would be straightforward.
