After the most recent stress test in April, Ubisoft seems to be ready to launch XDefiant. An official post from Ubisoft has now confirmed that XDefiant will launch on May 21 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S with tons of content. The game will be free to play and, for PC, it will be available through the Ubisoft Connect app.

Before entering the seasonal cycle, the game will have 6 weeks of pre-season from launch. With the launch, the game will have five factions to select from, a total of 14 maps including 10 arenas and 4 progression maps. Players will also get to use 24 different weapons and play five types of game modes.

The pre-season will also feature Ranked Mode Practice where players can prep for competitive games. Players who took part in the Server Test and unlocked rewards will also get to keep them and use them in-game after the launch. Ubisoft doesn’t have many esports titles, but they do know how to make them work. XDefiant could also have a potential esports future.

Year 1 Roadmap

Alongside the launch details, Ubisoft also laid out the roadmap for the first year. Year 1 will feature four seasons, with each season bringing a new 90-tier battle pass and factions codenamed RUBY, BUZZ, ORCHARD and HORDE. Players might have an option to unlock these factions in-game or through store purchases.

Alongside the factions, the four seasons will bring 12 new maps, and 12 new weapons spread equally among all seasons. Further quality-of-life improvements will also be added to the game like private matches, practice zones, and improvement in anti-cheat.
