Group Stage matches for the million dollar tournament for FC Esports World Cup have now begun, and Round 1 for Group A saw Team Liquid’s Levi de Weerd take down Fnatic’s Jonny in a close game after making a huge comeback after half-time.
The first half saw Jonny blaze past Levi with a 3-1 lead as the player was seen quite confident heading into the second half. However, things changed drastically as Levi made a huge comeback with three back to back score and stopped Jonny on his path to secure his first game.
On the other side of Round 1, Luna Galaxy’s jafonso displayed a dominating performance against Team Gullit’s Emre Yilmaz. Not only did jafonso secured 4 goals to win the match, he denied Emre even a single goal, taking him down in a perfect run.
AbuMakkah and Young secure their first game
With the current format, two more games took place in round 1. AbuMakkah from Team Falcons went against Web Nasri from Kashima Antlers and after an intense game AbuMakkah managed to came out on top in a close match.

Such was also the case for Gabriel “Young” Freitas representing Tuzzy E-Sports, who went against Mark “Mark11” Zakhary from FUTWIZ. After multiple back and forth, Young managed to get ahead and keep the lead till the endgame and secured Round 1. Two more round remains for Group A meaning players still have a chance to further secure a good standing.
