Vi announces COD Mobile esports event in partnership with Team Vitality

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has now announced its entry into the esports scene with ‘Vi Game to Fame’. The tournament aims to help amateur esports gain some fame in the esports scene and possibly going in to pursue gaming as a career. This is a big leap for the company after entering the casual gaming space with both free and premium games. 

Registration to compete in the tournament went live on September 30 and will remain open till October 5 so players looking to test their skills can still register with a team. The registration can be done through the official website for Vi.

This tournament comes in partnership with Team Vitality, which features one of the most popular COD Mobile teams in the country. Of course, the game of choice for the tournament is COD Mobile, for likely the same reason. The game is quite popular in India and now, more esports enthusiasts will get a chance to compete on a national level.

Tournament format and a special opportunity

Following the registration, teams will be competing for a spot in the top six, as the top six teams from the online qualifier will move to the final round. Here, the team will be divided into three groups of two, with matches played in a round-robin format.

What’s even more interesting is that despite being a grass-root level tournament featuring underdogs and possibly upcoming players, the finals will be held as a LAN event. The six teams will be going head-to-head at the India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2024, one of the biggest tech fest. This means that players will be getting a live audience to show off their skills.

To put the cherry on top, the winner of the tournament will get a chance to compete against Team Vitality, who recently defeated GodLike to become the best Indian COD Mobile team of 2024.
