Valorant console is now officially available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S devices, just two months after the initial reveal and even less time than the Beta testing. The announcement came on August 2 with Riot Games with Riot Games revealing the official console cinematic trailer for Valorant.

The initial announcement came during the 2024 Summer Game Fest and surprised all fans. Riot Games announced a multitude of features, including cross-inventory. All purchased cosmetics can be used across consoles and PC. Sadly, there is no cross-play option as Tactical Shooter has more advantages on Mouse and Keyboard.

The developers also revealed that there was no fixed date for the Beta test, and it will end as soon as everything is stable. However, no one expected a full release this early, and fans have praised the devs for making a stable port with minimal issues.

Is Valorant on Consoles different from PC?

Both PC and console will receive the same updates, including balance patches, maps, agents and all other contents so it is safe to say that both platforms will have the same game making it easier to hop into the device of choice to play.

However, not everything will be the same, in addition to cross-play with PC players, the game also has controls tweaked to make it easier to shoot. This is required as aiming down the sights can be difficult on a controller. The new controls will make it much easier to adapt for console players and hopefully remove any unwanted M&K abusers using external hardware.

Speaking of M&K, the console version of Valorant also comes with Vanguard anti-cheat which can detect players using these external pieces of software, allowing mouse and keyboard for an in-game advantage. Players using these devices will be hit with a permanent ban.
