Valorant Patch 9.10 brings Regen shields (Image - Riot Games)
Patch 9.10 for Valorant is here, and the biggest highlight for the update is the Regen Shield, which will likely have a huge impact on the gameplay and how players approach the round moving forward. There are also changes to agent abilities, which were skipped in the previous patch, to release them altogether in the latest update.
The Regen Shield, as the name suggests, is the rechargeable shield that will fill up after a short duration and will absorb all damage before HP in the latest update. However, those who think this is overpowered should note that this isn’t a permanent Regen Shield.
Costing 650 Credits, the initial charge is 25, similar to the half shield, but the Regen Shield has a regeneration pool of 50 HP. This means that once depleted, the player can Regen the shield twice to balance out the issue of perma Regen slowing the game down.
Agent Updates
A lot of agents have also undergone much-needed changes in an attempt to level the playfield. The much-requested Deadlock buffs are also here, but it remains to be seen if all the changes ultimately bring the sweet spot for the character players have been looking for.
- Cypher - A small nerf to Cypher and his Trap Wire to allow players a bit more time to counterplay. Furthermore, the ultimate cost has also been increased from 6 to 7.
- Sage - Self-healing for Sage saw a buff from 30HP to 50HP, while the slow orb will reduce the dash speed of enemies even more. To encourage more pick rates, the ultimate cost has been decreased to 6.
- Deadlock - Despite having a good kit, Deadlock fell a bit short. To improve that, her ultimate ability will not kill the target when the timer expires, as opposed to after reaching the spot. Annihilation Cocoon and Barrier Mesh health display has also been improved.
- Clove - Visual changes to the Ruse ability will not allow a better distinction between friendly and enemy smoke. Time to kill for their ultimate ability, Not Dead Yet, has been reduced to 10 seconds from 12.
- Omen - Dark Cover smokes will now always land on the floor where players can stand and not just hover in the air to get a tactical advantage. Devs are further keeping an eye on this.
- Phoenix - One of the earliest agents in the game, Phoenix saw some love in the update. His heels now persist a bit even if he is out of the fire. Curve Ball is now a signature ability and gets a free charge on round start, while Hot Hands is now a non-signature ability that costs 200 credits. The initial blaze projectile will go through walls.
- Jett - She can no longer float while suppressed. Other things remain the same.
