No one is reportedly working on Until Dawn Remake post launch Photograph: (PlayStation)
Ballistic Moon, the development studio behind Until Dawn Remake is ‘effectively closed’ per reports. The information comes from various sources who are aware of the current situation. Ahead of the game’s release, the studio announced layoffs with a small amount of people remaining to provide post-launch support. A majority of them were reportedly let go back in December 2024.
At the moment, there are reportedly only a handful of employees, including founders with no one working on public relations, marketing, or development. “People are sharing bugs they’ve found in the game to make the team aware but there is no one working on patch support for the game anymore. The studio has effectively closed now,” one of the sources said as per the Insider Gaming report.
Sony did not greenlight post-update funding
Until Dawn Remake was released last year in October and saw decent reviews. There were a few complaints regarding optimization and PSN account requirements for a single-player game, but most people appreciated the PC port for the most part.
However, it seems Sony did not see as many sales as they expected and did not delve much into post-launch support. “Sony said after the game they might greenlight more funding for updates but looks like they didn’t,” another one of the sources said. This may be due to many people not being aware of the game and the fact they didn't want to risk spending $60 on an interactive choice-based game.

Ballistic Moon remains active on paper
While the studio is still active and hasn’t made an official announceement, the ‘effectively closed’ statement here is due to the fact that there isn’t any work being done as per reports. Unless Ballistic Moon is able to secure funding to work on new projects, there is a good chance that the studio may also announce closure further adding to the already long list in 2025.
