Capcom is one of the biggest tech companies in Japan, and they are the developers of the Monster Hunter series and the Resident Evil series. As the gaming industry is still severely affected by economic downturn, many Western game developers are closing their studios and firing their hard-working employees.

Honour for Capcom in Japan

Capcom has received this prestigious honour for having 6,000 trademarks. This is not actually an award, it's actually called as the ‘Commissioner of Japan Patent Office Award for Corporate Utilisation of Intellectual Property.’ This is presented by Japan’s patent office and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.

It is very rare that a company's full list of trademarks gets recognition at the highest level. This was given to companies that play a significant role in development and use Japan’s intellectual property rights system. Capcom has used these rights wisely, and now they are receiving the honourable award from the government itself.

The 6000 trademarks are not only from Japan but also from worldwide. Every game developer has their own trademarks across the world. For example, Nintendo has 3000 trademarks only from Australia. Capcom is praised for following the single content and multiple usage strategy. It includes games, merchandise and other services related to them.

Japanese games have special places in people’s hearts, and Capcom has many such games that still live. Their famous creations include the Resident Evil franchise, Monster Hunter, Street Fighter, Devil May Cry, and Dead Rising. These were commercially and critically acclaimed games.

The brand is now working on a new Onimusha: Way of the Sword, which will be released in 2026. Before that, they will remaster Onimusha 2: Samurai Destiny this year. There were rumours about Capcom Fighting Collection, Resident Evil 9, Dragon Dogma 2 DLC and a Dino Crisis reboot.
