The opening day at BLAST Premier Spring Final for Counter-Strike 2 was full of surprises for Group B as Team Vitality and G2 Esports are now locked inside a deathmatch in the Elimination bracket after losing their opening matches.

Virtus.pro makes an insane comeback against Vitality

Team Vitality faced Virtus.pro and defeated them in the opening match in the best of three with relative ease. Things weren’t looking much better in the second map for VP too as Vitality pulled the game into an 11-5 score, requiring only two rounds to secure the Playoffs.

However, the IGL for VP, Jame, stepped up with clutch rounds allowing the team to secure back-to-back wins, equalizing the score. Vitality did have a good chance to take the game into overtime, however, fame secured the map with an insane ace round.

With the map going into the decider, it seems like VP was back on track, showing a dominating first half. Vitality, after missing out on a win in the second match, struggled to keep up lost the decider and moved to the Elimination bracket.

G2 Esports struggles without m0NESY

Similar to Vitality, G2 also had a great opening match, taking down Team Spirit on their own map. m0NESY, who could not get his passport in time, had to sit out for the first match, with coach TaZ subbing for the player.

However, the absence of proper AWPer was quite apparent in the open maps as Spirit crushed G2 Esports on Dust 2 with sh1ro capitalizing on m0NESY’s absence. With no chance for a comeback, G2 fell 13-7 taking the game into a decider.

The decider match saw the same outcome, with G2 only securing the first few rounds before Team Spirit got a hold of the match. The second half saw G2 failing defence and go down without any around. Sh1ro once again led the pack with 23 kills.

While G2 did not have m0NESY, he will be present to play the elimination match against Vitality. Fans are excited to see him clash against ZywOo who is also considered one of the best AWPers.
