It’s been almost a month since Split Fiction was released and apart from the massive number of sales and community, the game reportedly broke three world records within a week of its release. Thanks to its incredible game design, Split Fiction is already being called a Game of The Year contender in a year stacked with some of the biggest releases.
The three records Split Fiction broke were the most played local co-op videogame on Steam, most sold local co-op video game within 48 hours of release and most sold local co-op videogame within one week of release. Even the game director and studio head, ‘Josef Fares’, was surprised by this achievement.

Sings of success were already there for Split Fiction
This achievement came after the game peaked at 197,434 concurrent players within 24 hours of release while also selling over 1 million copies in just two days. The game also went on to reach 2 million sales within a week marking another milestone for the game.
Hazellight Studios’ previous game ‘It Takes Two’ was also a massive hit and even managed to secure GOTY back in 2021, and fans can certainly see the game back in the race for 2025 Game of the Year. As of now, the studio has started working on their next game.

Split Fiction live-action movie is in the work
With its success, Split Fiction is reportedly being adapted into a live-action movie. While the details regarding the project are scarce, a report from Variety says multiple top Hollywood studios are currently bidding to secure the rights for the movie, although an official confirmation regarding the same from Hazelight Studios is yet to come.
