The last two years have been filled with some incredible game releases. Everyone will likely have different opinions regarding which game should be up there, with many people looking wondering where games like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Elden Ring are, but to be honest, the list is quite deserving even if the games aren’t of everyone’s taste.

Here are all the Grammy Nominations for best video game soundtrack

God of War Ragnarök: Valhalla – Bear McCreary, composer
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 – John Paesano, composer
Star Wars Outlaws – Wilbert Roget, II, composer
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora – Pinar Toprak, composer
Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord – Winifred Phillips, composer

The surprise expansion for God of War Ragnarök was very much appreciated by the players thanks to its roguelike gameplay loop and of course the incredible soundtrack. Another entry from PlayStation include Spider-Man 2 which improved upon the original game in every way possible.

Composers behind these game soundtracks, Bear McCreary and John Paesano, already boast an incredible portfolio in games and television. As for Star Wars Outlaws and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the games didn’t exactly meet the player's expectations in terms of gameplay and story for everyone. However, that does not change the fact that the music and art direction weren’t appreciated.

Indie game representation has been going on strong, and this year’s nominee Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord saw music composer Winifred Phillips in competition. She is an industry veteran with past works in various titles including God of War, Assassin's Creed III: Liberation, and the LittleBigPlanet series.
