God of War Ragnarök is now available on PC alongside all the extra content released on the PlayStation. However, despite being regarded as a top contender for Game of the Year alongside Elden Ring back in 2022, it opened to mixed ratings from gamers on Steam. This comes as a huge shock considering all the hype surrounding the PC port.

The gameplay and the entire content of God of War Ragnarök remains the same, with even more optimizations, ultrawide support and higher graphical options made for the PC port. Why is the reception mixed? The main reason for this is the PlayStation Network (PSN) account requirement.

Gamers express their displeasure with PSN requirement

With Sony bringing more and more games to PC, the company recently started enforcing PSN requirements in their games. This does not seem to sit well with a lot of fans, both of who can or cannot play the game due to this requirement.

Those who have the option to purchase the game do not want to go through the process of creating a PSN account, especially for a single-player game. Another big issue with the PSN account is that the service is not available in over 100 countries, meaning the latest Sony games like God of War Ragnarök are not available to purchase.

The uproar regarding the PSN account requirement also happened a few months back with the release of Helldivers 2. The game initially launched with no PSN requirement, which was later implemented, resulting in several players losing access due to region restrictions in creating a PSN account.

While there are a few complaints regarding bugs and glitches, which will most likely be fixed in the upcoming patches, the PSN account requirement for God of War Ragnarök is not going anywhere. This will also be the case for upcoming PlayStation games.
