At a time when Los Angeles faces devastation due to the wildfires, PlayStation parent Sony has now chipped into the relief funds and donated $5 million to help the first responders of LA working to minimise the damages. Over the last week, multiple areas have had people displaced due to the spread of wildfire, which has also resulted in several deaths.
Sony chairman Kenichiro Yoshida and Sony president Hiroki Totoki also shared a statement saying, “Los Angeles has been the home of our entertainment businesses for more than 35 years. We will continue to work with our local business leadership to determine how best Sony Group can support relief and recovery efforts in the days ahead.”

LA has been a major hub not only for Sony but for the majority of big names. The city houses many popular game development and support studios. Other major names in the entertainment industry, like Disney, Netflix, Warner Bros., and others, have also done the same with amounts ranging from $5 million to $15 million.

LA Wildfire causes a halt in production of several projects
Due to the massive wildfire and constant threat to life, several of the ongoing projects have been halted. Many of the development studios may have to delay the things they were working on. Even the TV adaptation for Fallout was also filming Season 2, which is also on hold for the time being.
Most recently, Riot Games asked the employees to not come to work until the whole ordeal is settled and to take care of themselves. The company also announced that they are ready to support the people in every way to get through this situation. At the moment, the efforts to contain the fire still seem like an uphill battle. The damages are estimated to cross billions, not to mention the harm it has caused to both humans and wildlife in the area.
