PlayStation is looking into the creation of a completely new ‘groundbreaking AAA IP’ for the PS5 console. This comes following a new job listing for ‘Project Senior Producer’ in Los Angeles, California where a new first-party PlayStation studio has been established and scouting for someone with experience in the gaming industry.

“Sony PlayStation Studios is seeking outstanding talent to join our passionate and creative family in crafting our next high-profile AAA console title,” the job listing wrote. At the moment, there is no information regarding what Sony has in mind for a new AAA IP or even the name and who will be leading the new studio.

Some theories claim Jason Blundell might be the one on the helm. Some of his most popular works include the early Call of Duty Balck Ops games. Following his departure from Activision, he established Deviation Games but soon left the studio. Following that, Blundell joined PlayStation Studios along with others from Deviation Games. Blundell was reportedly working with Bungie on a new game.

Sony looking for seasoned game developers

A past announcement from Sony revealed that they will be working on new IPs for the PlayStation and looking for someone with a large amount of experience in the industry. Sony demands at least five years of industry experience in game production and multiple AAA games released under the belt.

“Our mission is to create the next groundbreaking AAA original IP while reimagining the development process with a lean and highly efficient approach. We’re seeking talented individuals who share our vision and are eager to join us on this journey,” the listing further added.

It is interesting to see Sony commit to branching out into new video game IPs at a time when most big gaming companies rarely take these risks. Last year, Naughty Dog announced their latest AAA title Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.
