28 teams locked in for PUBG Mobile World Cup 2024 (Image - Krafton)
One of the biggest esports events for PUBG Mobile has now landed on the Esports World Cup and will be featuring 28 teams for the first iteration of the PUBG Mobile World Cup (PMWC) championship and a $3 million prize pool.
The previous iteration of the PMWC was called PUBG Mobile World Invitational (PMWI) and was hosted by Krafton alongside Gamers 8. Following their success, Gamers 8 later transformed into the Esports World Cup, while PMWI became PMWC.
With the tournament commencing on July 19, the entire format for the event has already been revealed, Let’s have a look at what the teams need to survive to reach the grand finals. Besides taking home the prize money, the winning team will also be rewarding their region along with another slot for the PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2024 League Stage.

PMWC 2024 Format
Out of the 28 competing teams, 24 will be starting with the Group Stage matches from July 19 to 21. Teams are divided into three groups, Red, Yellow and Green. Each team will play 12 matches and at the end of the group stage, the top 12 will move forward to the main event while the bottom 12 will move to Survival Stage.

The Survival Stage is set to begin on July 23 and feature 16 teams, 12 from the Group Stage, while the remaining four teams from a total of 28 made a wildcard entry from PMSL. The stakes here will be much higher here as out of 16 teams, only the top four will move to the main stage.

With all 16 teams locked in, the Main Event/Grand Finals will take place starting July 26 which will see the best 16 teams go head-to-head across three days to witness the first PMWC 2024 champions. The point system remains the usual and is explained below.
