PlayStation’s upcoming game ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’ takes inspiration from Elden Ring

During the 2024 Game Awards, Naughty Dog revealed their upcoming PlayStation 5 game, ‘Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet’. During a Minnmax podcast, Ben Hanson talked about how he revealed about the game ahead of its announcement. At the time he revealed the game to be inspired by a popular title which he now reveald to be Elden Ring.

“I think it's fine to say it now. that game was Elden Ring that it was compared to back then. If I would have said ‘Naughty Dog's next game is like Elden Ring’ and then that reveal trailer came out, I feel like we would have been lit on fire,” Hanson said during the podcast segment at the 2-hour mark.

The teaser for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet did not give players much apart from the main character, a few product placements, and the setting of the game. During the time, many people were left questioning the studio, but the recent revelation tells that the game is highly ambitious and provides players a lot of freedom, presumably in terms of how they explore and play the game.

Naughty Dog already has a great track record when it comes to making some incredible games. The studio has games like Crash Bandicoot, Uncharted, and The Last of Us under its belt and is planning to bring another incredible game as reported by Hanson. He previously held off comparing the game to Elden Ring as the statement could have altered fan expectations ahead of the reveal.

Hanson also mentioned that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be taking place on a single planet where players are left to uncover what happened. The freedom to explore in a mysterious setting may be the reason fans may have a hard time getting a sci-fi Elden Ring out of their minds. Although, official details are yet to be revealed by Naughty Dog.
