The long-awaited release date for the second season of The Last of Us TV show has been revealed and fans won’t have to wait much longer. Last month, HBO teased fans with an April release and now fans have got the exact date. The first episode is set to release in less than two months on April 13th and will continue the story five years ahead from the previous season.

Advertisment

Pedro Pascal is back alongside Bella Ramsey and new faces from the game’s sequel. Season 2 will be only seven episodes long and will not cover the entire story of The Last of Us Part 2 meaning fans will have something more to look forward to in the future.

The decision to tell the narrative in separate parts was due to the game’s plot being much more expansive than the original as per Craig Mazin. “The story that we're telling is much bigger than the story of season one. There's just a lot more going on, it's a lot harder to produce but we want every episode to feel like its own blockbuster to be honest with you,” he said during an interview with Deadline last year.

The Last of Us Part 2 PC release also coming in April

Speaking of The Last of Us Part, the sequel to the award-winning game will also land on PC this year. Season 1 of The Last of Us received praise worldwide for acting and storytelling. Since the show will not cover the entire story, people can also play the game set to release on April 3rd.

Not every detail regarding the story can be added to a game which is why experiencing the game ahead of the show is always advised. This will allow people to get to know characters beforehand and not get lost across some additional things along the way and further appreciate the worldbuilding from Naughty Dog.

Fans hoping for a stable PC port

The Last of Us Part 1 is one of the best single-player games, however, the PC port on launch had a lot of issues. While these were eventually fixed with a series of updates, fans are hoping that this will not be the case for The Last of Us Part 2. The game is also a bit cheap, but that’s because the first part release was a remake while part 2 is simply a remaster.
