PlayStation has now joined hands with Discord, one of the most popular communication platforms among gamers, to bring a direct integration for the app inside PS5 devices. This comes after Sony’s partnership with Discord was announced back in May.
This new feature will be enabled via an update and will allow players to connect directly on Discord with friends without using any other devices for the PS5 consoles. The first updates will roll out in the Asian region, followed by Europe, Australia/New Zealand and the Middle East in the same week before finally launching in the Americas region.
How to join Discord VC on PS5
With the integration done, joining a voice chat is quite easy. Players need to navigate to the game base and find the discord icon. Players will also need to link their Discord account to their PlayStation Network account. Once that is done, players will be able to see all of their Discord channels.
From there on, it’s as simple as it gets. Just select the server and the room you want to join. Players will also have access to a custom soundboard and direct calling features and notifications on their PS5 for when someone calls them over Discord, which is quite handy.
Do remember that players need to update their PS5 to make use of this feature and since the update is being rolled out one by one fore each region, few may have to wait a bit longer for the update.

New PlayStation profile sharing
Apart from the new Discord integration, players will also be able to share their PlayStation Network profile starting next week. In order to do that, players need to select “Share Profile” either on the PS5 console or PlayStation App.
This will generate a link and QR code. For those who are with you, they can use the QR code else players can send the link which can be used to add that particular person after signing in to PlayStation Network.
